I was the Feature Article in section "C" of the newspaper the full front page of section "C" no less. I looked for a link to share, but couldn't find one. So here's a picture I took of it... I also had a small appearence on the front page, as they do a "what's inside" look at the top of the page. If you got the paper I hope you take a look :)

Halloween Appointments

Took Halloween appointments today, at Pheonix Games. Lots of fun designs. The first client of the day was a girl from wed. Halloween party. However instead of the webbed butterfly, she was a she-devil...gave her a sparkly face with swirls and some vampire teeth. did a bunch of things from day-of-the-dead masks, to deamons, to fairies. Lots of fun. Also got a visit from a boy I did yesterday at his school. :)

Kindergarden Halloween Party

Painted at Kindergarden Halloween party. Was only able to do small, fast stuff , but I think the kids really enjoyed it. One of them came trick-or-treating at my house the next day with a faint image still on his cheek(he didn't wash it off) and another who had washed his off, but was very sad to have lost his paint, came into town to be repainted as something different. one day a coyboy, and the next a transformer. Nither is shown here.

How I love a Birthday Party

Great Party....nice array of faces, a witch, a genie, couple demons, several butterflys and the webbed butterfly was a huge hit. In other news, there was a reporter there taking pictures for a feature article probably on Sunday.

Pumpkin Palooza

So I was helping out a fellow painter doing some volunteer work. Over all, I got to try out a few new things which is nice. However I don't think I will volunteer next year. Distance was a big factor there...

Fun Halloween Themed Birthday Today

It was a lovely party, there were princesses, a gypsy, a cat, a pirate...etc...and there was me....I was wearing my big purplish wings, and I started out painting the birthday girl. She wanted a mix of the rose crown and the heart swirls, so we put the rose where the heart useually was, and did the swirls....Way cute!
About half of the designs were my simple swirls in various colors....even grandma got them. also did a dolphin and a shark...a couple hearts...and a yin-yang....also did a few aggie 'A's as a couple of them were going to the game after. totally fun! So here are a few pictures from my event.

I was in Cache Magazine

Cache Magazine is a weekly publication that shows up in our newspaper every Friday. I had hoped they would do an article on safe paint...so I sent in a few examples of my work. Didn't have space for the safety tips so I'm posting them here on my blog.

Unlike masks, face paint won't interfere with your peripheral vision, or breathing. You can also find professional face paint here in Cache valley. I use the brand "Snazaroo" which is the worlds safest face paint. you can find small packages of this brand at Michael's or at HobbyLobby.

Important safety points about face painting
** Always use a product that is FDA compliant for use on skin.** (should have an ingredient list)
* Always follow the directions on the product.
* If you have sensitive skin do a patch test on the inside elbow area for 20 minutes.
* Wash with FDA compliant facial cleanser or tear free baby shampoo.
* non-toxic doesn't mean it's safe to put on skin, it just means if you follow the directions on the packaging that it shouldn't kill you.
* Check for shelf life on the products you are using.
* use good hygiene practices, only paint clean areas. Never paint over broken skin.
** Never use Acrylic paint on Skin **

Please be safe this Halloween.

Last Gardener's Market of the 2010 season

There is always a bit of sadness at the end of the Gardner's market season, I'll miss all my cute regulars that I have painted just about every week. I'll miss chatting with the other vendors. I'll miss the nice breeze that frooze me on some mornings and brought relief on others. I'll miss the tree I try to be under most times.
Luckily, There will still be birthdays and Halloween and Christmas events coming up, so I'll still get to paint and bring smiles to faces of all ages, but it won't be as regular...though hopefully I can work on some new designs for next years season.
Since I just took a workshop from Pashur, I thought I'd try my hand at his dragon variation. I think it came out pretty great. I'm also sharing a picture of dracula I did...I added a few webs/spider to add some interest to the face....he loved it. Turns out dracula here is the brother of the dragon girl I did a few weeks ago.

Pashur Came to Utah

Pashur is a world famous Face Painter, and he actually did a class here in Utah. I found out about it last minute, and so I spent alot of time trying to find a babysitter. Finally my mom said she would meet me in SLC, and take the kids, which saved me an extra 2 hours of travel, so I was able to go. It was a fun class, and he had some awesome designs, especially the part dragon around the eye. though I think he needs to work on his sugar skull design. Here's my take on his spider.

Oct. 2nd - Gardener's Market

Well, It was relatively slow on this day, But I knew it probably would be. However I felt it important to go, because I know that I won't be there the following week, since I am going out of town for my Older Sister's wedding. I did some fun stuff, like a purple tiger , and several scarry faces on some cute little boys. One of the boys had a hard time deciding between a skull or a panda....
Sadly, I left my camera at home. but the aunt of the purple tiger might email me a picture.
